El Impenetrable National Park
The wild Chaco forest
About 130,000 hectares of Chaco forest between the Bermejo and Bermejito rivers, the largest protected area in northern Argentina. It's a young park, created in 2014, where species that were vanishing are being seen again.
What not to miss
- Paddling or camping on the Bermejito River
- Forest trails with local guides
- Nearby towns such as Miraflores or Nueva Pompeya
Getting there
The base town is Juan José Castelli, about 300 km from Resistencia; dirt roads continue from there. Check road conditions before you go, as rain closes them.
